The 23-year-old striker, who suffered a ligament injury in late August returned to the training pitch for the first time this season over the Holiday. He started the season in good form for the Canaries, bagging three goals and an assist in four matches. However, 14 minutes into his fourth match of the campaign, he was forced off due to the knock.

On December 21, Norwich boss David Wagner said "Today, we had everyone on the pitch except Josh. He'll be back in training on Monday."

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Sargent's return to the pitch is a massive boost for the Canaries, but also the USMNT. The striker will provide much-needed competition to Folarin Balogun and Ricardo Pepi and may also feature at the 2024 Olympics. Sargent has netted five goals in 23 caps for the national team, but flourished at youth level, scoring 30 times in 48 appearances for the U17s.

The USA striker is set to continue his rehab, but this time around, on the pitch alongside his teammates. He'll look to slowly build up his strength and fitness levels, will itching for minutes at the same time.
