The prolific 30-year-old frontman has made a stunning impact in German football since leaving Premier League giants Tottenham in the summer of 2023. An immediate return has been offered on the €100 million (£85m/$108m) transfer fee that was required to secure his signature.

Kane has rewritten the history books in Munich, becoming Bayern’s highest-scoring debutant with 24 Bundesliga efforts to his name. He may yet go on to chase down Robert Lewandowski’s single season record in the German top-flight – which currently stands at 41.

WHAT KLOSE SAID ABOUT KANE

Klose, the all-time leading scorer in World Cup finals history, knows all about the pressure of filling a striking berth at Bayern. He has told of Kane’s exploits heading towards the first leg of a Champions League last-16 showdown with another of his former clubs, Serie A side Lazio: “Lazio’s defence must pay attention because Kane has no mercy. I thought he’d score 20 or 25 goals in his first season as he had to adapt, but he scored these goals in just a few months. The last time in Rome, Bayern won 4-1 but they could have scored more goals. Bayern Munich win games but are not able to dominate. Just to take three points, it’s not enough in Munich. There have been many injuries, but I am convinced the situation will improve. Lazio seem more troubled.”

Supposed troubles at Lazio will be music to Kane’s ears, as he looks to guide Bayern towards European glory. Before lining up against Italian opposition, though, the reigning Bundesliga champions have a crunch clash with 2023-24 title rivals Bayer Leverkusen to take in on Saturday.
